Oakland Underfoot

Ocean View Drive at Margarido Drive

6050 Ocean View Drive

The obscure Poblitz shows up with a dated mark! The bottom line is the phone number.

6023 Ocean View Drive

This is a rare driveway by N. Lena, with a hand-drawn mark. In fact it appears to have been made by pressing a nail into the fresh concrete.

6055 Manchester Drive

Unlike my other 1928 Schnoor Bros. mark, this date is not hand-drawn.

4210 Gilbert Street

I pass this mark often, but only rarely is the date visible.

86 Sheridan Road

Another new year; also a new maker, and all this on another block I never expect to revisit.

1025 9th Avenue

The only thing scarcer than 1970s marks is marks from the 1980s. I’ve found only four, each from a different year, and that’s counting an amateur mark. So this was cause for celebration, especially in a part of Oakland I never expect to visit again.
