This sets a new earliest date for the Douglas & Wolfe mark.

Finding this made for a memorable day the afternoon I tramped the hills of Grand Lake. Dated Fitzmaurice marks are rare as hen’s teeth, and this is an entirely distinct variety of the mark. Indeed, a 1928 mark appeared during that same walk, which you’ll see on the 17th.

Amazingly, this is readable as C. Davis, 1926, Fruitv.

I’m very interested in learning about the usage of “Fruitvale” as an address. As I move into Fruitvale I hope to find more examples.
