1960 Mandela Parkway

I believe this is the only concrete stamp on all of Mandela. It sits next to the American Steel building, and somehow it escaped the repaving after the 1989 earthquake. I think this group must have been the developers of the site. Wikipedia tells me that the firm was the developer of the Cypress Structure, although that contract started in 1956.

This is an undamaged example of the year and maker.

1108 Wellington Street

The 1970s are a real black hole in Oakland sidewalk stamps. I blame Richard Nixon. This is the first legitimate stamp I’ve found from 1971 (but do check out the other two I’ve found). Fortunately, this block has several of these, so it won’t soon go extinct.

1968

1123 El Centro Avenue

This beautiful example, one of many on this block, is an upgrade to the sketchy one I recorded in August.

1964

1115 Clarendon Crescent

Yes, I recorded this year before, but that was one of the most wretched marks I’ve ever deciphered. Even this mark is better than that one.
