1935 – Frank Salamid

3751 Elston Avenue

Frank Salamid marks are usually unique combinations of orientation and date placement. This block of Elston has about 10 Salamid marks from 1934 and 1935, but they are all the same. I think the remarkable setting of this street made even the casual Salamid sit up and do his best.

3751 Elston Avenue

Another rare dated Fitzmaurice mark, and my best example yet from 1933.

I want to say that this block of Elston Avenue is one of Oakland’s most remarkable streets. If you’ve been there, you know.

3772 Canon Avenue

Canon Avenue is a very interesting little street just north of Dimond Park, with Sausal Creek running just behind the homes on the south side. I have to assume that it’s really Cañon Avenue.

1927 – M. Medis

1426 Allman Street

This is an interesting little street, with all or most of the houses built at the same time with the same look.

1912 – Hutchinson Co.

24 January 2013

1912ff

3644 Dimond Avenue

This is part of the Renaissance School grounds. Not only does this push Hutchinson Co. back a little earlier, it also tells me that the mark must go back to 1910 at least, because this is clearly a hand-altered 1910 stamp.
