There are two marks here that are both clearly from 1958.

1316 Franklin Street

209 Wayne Avenue

This puts Aaron Dahlquist firmly in the 1940s, establishing him as one of the longest-lived practitioners in Oakland.

Wesley Avenue at Hillsborough Street

605 Hillsborough Street

This mark is a Big Deal: among thousands of Fitzmaurice marks I’ve seen, it’s the first with an actual formally stamped date. I feel like a paleontologist who has just found a “missing link” fossil.

1732 Webster Street

I guess the “High Baghdad” style of the Fox Theatre rubbed off on other city businesses in the early 1930s, although L. M. Rasmussen used other styles during this period too.

Notice the reversed “C” in “Construction.”

669 Hillsborough Street

This steep little street offers great views of the lake and downtown from the top, plus some noteworthy sidewalk stamps like this one.
