6250 Baker Street

I have an Estey mark already documented, but this is a much better example. Baker Street has about a dozen of these, so that’s where to go to see them. It’s a nice street in the Golden Gate district.

1042 63rd Street

Here’s another example of the mysterious mark I found on Alcatraz earlier this year. Now it’s revealed as a unique crescent design, but I couldn’t decipher the name until I found “Robt H” Hahn in the directory. He was listed that year as living at 3043 Grove Street (now MLK Way).

It appears that the R and the N are reversed. Perhaps a better example will turn up in Berkeley.

This is the fourth 1901 mark I’ve found from these guys, and the best preserved.

6616 Whitney Street

There were two marks on this driveway, the other with the year upside down. I came home and saw that my previous example also had an upside-down date, so this is the right one and the earlier one is the variant.

J. Anderson marks are not rare, but they have a short date range that now extends from 1937 to 1942.
