1939 – W. Brill

5 July 2011

1939

1200 block 37th Avenue

Finally I can assign W. Brill a date (and phone number).

1938 – C. Valenzuela

4 July 2011

1938

1232 39th Avenue

This mark is cause for fireworks, pushing C. Valenzuela from 1950 all the way to the thirties. With a latest date of 1988, this mark puts Valenzuela in a tie with Frank Salamid for the longest record, 50 years.

Carlos Valenzuela is listed in the 1937 directory with no occupation, in the 1938 directory as a laborer, in the 1940 directory as a concrete worker and in the 1941 directory as a cement finisher, living at 992 35th Street with his wife Mary.

1932 – Riechel & Bredhoff

3 July 2011

1932

3915 E 12th Street

I now have Riechel & Bredhoff marks from 1932 of both types. This is the “easy arch” as opposed to the “tight arch.”

1926 – N. J. Lindstrom

2 July 2011

1926

1227 41st Avenue

1926 is the scarcest year of the twenties, this mark being only the seventh I’ve documented here.

1919 – Hutchinson Co.

1 July 2011

1919

1200 block 38th Avenue

Marks from this year are quite scarce; this is only the third.

1987 – T. Jones

30 June 2011

1987

2570 99th Avenue

I hope that T. Jones still thinks fondly of the moment represented by these handprints.

1985 – Davis & Sons Inc.

29 June 2011

1985

9828 Thermal Street

Always nice to locate a new year!
