Herman C. Orth was a cement contractor who lived in Berkeley with his wife Helen at 1821 Addison Street, according to the city directory of 1925. He was also part of the Orth & Braun firm. I have examples of this mark all the way to 1951.

Greenwood Avenue at Brighton Avenue

I have found only a couple of these. They’re quite large.

1127 Norwood Avenue

This pushes W. O. Nelson four years earlier than I had him before. It’s a nice crisp mark, but not well lit.

542 Midcrest Road

These initials don’t match any maker I know, and the technique is poor, so for now I’ll consider this an amateur paving job.

Sunnyhills Road at Downey Place

Now I have Ferrero marks from this year in both configurations, this lozenge and the trapezoid.
