I found another 1939 example of Ensor Buel’s ebullient mark up in the Broadway Terrace hills two years ago, but that was on the cracked driveway of an empty firestorm lot and it may be erased by now. This one’s more secure.

I’ve documented this date from MacDonald before, but the date was at the bottom of the mark rather than the middle.
3052 Sylvan Avenue
A. J. Ferrero also used his trapezoidal mark this year. The two marks overlapped from 1964 to 1966at least, I have examples of both this lozenge and the trapezoid from 1964 and 1966 so far.
3026 Wisconsin Street
Angelo Sposeto signed this mark “A. L. Sposeto” for some reason. He didn’t do that for the other mark of his I have from this year.
3336 Kansas Street
This was the last year (or nearly so) that Douglas & Wolfe did business. In 1945 R. G. Wolfe carried on alone with an altered version of this same stamp, then got his own stamp made sometime between 1946 and 1949.
