10300 Pippin Street

I’m thinking this would be in the Stonehurst neighborhood. I saw it on a 1939 map and figured it was paved at the time, unlike Sobrante Park just to the west. It was no surprise to see J. Rodrigues here.

723 61st Street

Unlike the other 1931 Lovisone mark I have, this one’s date is way out of whack.

680 4th Street

This is a much better imprint than my previous example.

West Street at Sycamore Street

The address is a tiny triangle with a defunct hotdog stand on it. This is the first Geo. D. Prentice Jr. mark I have found, and it differs in not having the address “2207 13th Ave” above the city name. Oddly, the Geo. D. Prentice no-Junior company continues past this year, at least to 1932.

1000 53rd Street

This area is Troja-Sisto country: his address was just down the block. Today there is no sign of a contractor’s workplace at 1026 53d Street, just a nice old house that’s being upgraded. Maybe all his stuff was in the back.

667 Wesley Avenue

5000 Golden Gate Avenue

This is the first Fitzmaurice mark of this kind—the barrel shape—that I’ve found with a date. I’ve found another 1931 Fitzmaurice mark, but that one is the arched-text design. Two others of that configuration date from 1933 and 1934. Therefore it seems that the barrel came second, after the escutcheon and before the arched text, which in turn was before today’s barrel design. If that result holds up, I’ll have to redesignate the order of this mark, which up to now I’d considered the third, not the second Fitzmaurice mark.
