1932 – East Bay C. & C. Co.

1932

6119 Harwood Avenue

This East Bay C&C mark, like the other one from 1932, has the last digit handmade, but at least they made more of an effort.

1931 – East Bay C. & C. Co.

1931

5221 Shafter Avenue

A 1932 version of the East Bay C&C mark used this same stencil but gouged the last 1 into a 2.

1931 – P. M. Henning

1931

Cerrito Avenue and 38th Street

A particularly well preserved Henning mark.

1931 – Doyle & Sons

1931

4343 Howe Street

This is the only Doyle & Sons mark I’ve found so far.

1930 – P. Barale & Co.

1930

4231 Montgomery Street

1930 – N. Tribuzio

14 September 2008

1930

4236 Montgomery Street

In 1927, the Tribuzio company was at this same address but with a different phone number. I assume Weld Street was in Oakland, but a telephone historian surely knows where the TRIN exchange was.

1930 – W. E. Ensor

14 September 2008

4220 Montgomery Street

W. E. Ensor marks are widespread and distinctive, but the dates are not often legible. Ensor made a point of stamping every corner of their work so passers-by wouldn’t miss the horseshoe brand.
