This is a very late year for Otto Hennig. I hope he enjoyed the job up here at the scenic edge of Oakland’s development.

O. C. Jones is still in business, although I don’t think they use a stamp any more.

3653 Rhoda Avenue

C. L. Rogers was headquartered right down the street, but his marks are not at all common, even around here.

Doyle & Sons used a different arrangement for the date in this example.

2626 Madeline Street

I love J. Andersen’s oval. The address on the stamp is where the new Kaiser hospital is going up; before that it was the MacArthur-Broadway Shopping Center. Howe Street used to go farther than it does now.

3865 Coolidge Avenue

I’ve seen a lot of Hutchinson marks in high East Oakland, but this is the first new Hutchinson date in almost six months. The company specialized in doing whole blocks at once, I think. You see them at street corners a lot.

3847 Rhoda Avenue

This ungainly mark was used from 1911 to 1933, at least. After a hundred years, this one’s looking pretty beat.
