2933 Carlsen Street

I have an example of this “barrel” mark from 1940 too. In 1937 Ryan used both a straight text and an arched text mark. Some time between then and 1939, Ryan changed to this mark.

2911 Carmel Street

Marks by East Bay C. & C. Co. are scarce outside North Oakland. This one’s a much better example of the year than the one I posted before.

4209 Wilshire Boulevard

Did you know we have our own Wilshire Boulevard? It has this exuberant mark from Ensor Buel, much nicer than the sorry example I posted over five years ago.

This is the third version of W. Brill’s mark I have from 1937, the other two being stamps rather than a signature.

Another early year from Banchero, when his “Co.” was still a going concern. By 1936 he had chiseled off the “Co.”
