This is such a rare date that I have never found one until now, after almost six years. And it’s a beaut.

Haven’t seen a Frank Cizek mark in over two years. Luckily this one was a previously undocumented year. Perhaps there are some earlier ones in East Oakland.

3916 Huntington Avenue

Two months later, Frank Salamid had the date inside the mark.

3945 Huntington Avenue

This pair may have been a one-off collaboration. I haven’t seen either name before.

4434 Albert Street

Frank Salamid was careful to erase the “& Co.” from his mark after 1913—except in the 1930s, for some reason, when he got sloppy. My previous examples from this year have the date inside the triangle, but they are from November and December whereas this one is from January.

3920 Enos Avenue

This unusually deep strike gives some insight into the shape of the stamps used in those days. You wouldn’t guess from my previous example of this year’s mark.
