2627 56th Avenue
A much better example of this mark and year than what I had before.
1928 – Carl T. Petersen
20 November 20141926 – T. A. Ryan
19 November 2014
Seminary Avenue at Walnut Street
There are two of these at this address, both of them cracked, but they’re far less cracked than the example I showed before.
1984 – C. Valenzuela
18 November 2014
3145 Maxwell Avenue
A barely discernible mark from Valenzuela’s last decade.
1969 – Apodaca Bros.
17 November 2014
5380 Fleming Avenue
1959 – C. Valenzuela
16 November 2014
2915 Madera Avenue
1959 was the last year in which Valenzuela left his marks doubled-up like this; also the last year he used his nice metal numerals to make the dates (like this one from June). This appears to show that he had given those up by early October.
1937 – W. M. Sharp
15 November 2014
2809 Maxwell Avenue
W. M. Sharp marks are invariably shallow and a bit fuzzy, including my previous example from this year. But here’s a gorgeous, definitive one at one of Oakland’s prettiest corners.
1937 – M. Dias
14 November 2014
2834 Seminary Avenue
Hard to believe that a professional like M. Dias could have produced such a botch. Perhaps he made it from an upside-down position.
