1220 47th Avenue
This unusual mark gives us Dan Doyle’s address, which looks like 2028 E. 28th Street. At some point, probably when I’m finished with the whole city of Oakland, I’ll visit the locations of every sidewalk concrete contractor I can just to see what’s there today.
E. 24th Street at 21st Avenue
Unlike my previous Powell Bros. Concrete Co. mark, this one has (narrowly) escaped damage. Still looking for one with a date.
2034 E. 25th Street
This is the only Catucci mark I’ve found that includes the address of the firm. The building there still stands with the company name visible on it. Unfortunately this mark doesn’t have a date.
6130 Medau Place
I’ve documented this mark with dates from 1926 to 1940, but this post is just to document the J. H. Fitzmaurice mark as a type. As far as I know now, it’s the second type used (after the escutcheon version), but the third type (the oval text version) overlaps with it. At least two different marks followed with the barrel configuration, like this one.
3644 Dimond Avenue
This is right next to the 1912 Hutchinson Co. mark in the Renaissance School property. I think that Metge and Hutchinson worked together on this paving job, which would give Metge a 1912 date too.
3361 Partridge Avenue
I would bet a quarter that these guys are related to B. W. Martinelli, of Castro Valley. This mark is older, I am sure.
4664 Dolores Avenue
Another company from the Bacon Block, joining Harry B. Williams and Golden Gate Construction Co.
