Corners: Allston Way and Seventh Street, Berkeley

7 October 2025

As they say, “You had one job.”

Corners: Manoa and Mystic Streets

18 August 2023

This corner, one of two thus marked, is also a splendid example of a dated Schnoor Bros. stamp, unlike my previous example from just down the block.

Corners: Alice and Fourth Streets

16 June 2023

This makes the 12th corner I’ve documented with names stamped in the concrete. Notice that while the street signs on 4th Street spell it “4th,” this says “Fourth.”

[Moved from a combination post to its own post]

Corners: Canning Street and McAuley Street

18 December 2021

McAuley Street was previously named Rose Street and is shown thusly on the 1912 street map. It was apparently still Rose Street in 1929.

Corners: Canning Street and 59th Street

15 December 2021

Looks like I missed this the last time I was here, back in 2009. Granted, it was long ago and I wasn’t collecting corners then. The sidewalks here are around 110 years old.

Corners: Kingston Avenue at Monte Vista Avenue

31 August 2018

If it hadn’t been late afternoon, I might have missed this yet again. Note that Kingston was called “Street” at the time.

Corners: 21st Avenue and E. 28th Street

16 April 2018

This sidewalk was laid by C. A. (Carl) Lindstrom. The dates on his marks extend only from 1923 to 1925.
