This guy was so emphatic about inscribing the date, but when it came to his name he was all “McAh, whatever.” The only “McA——” it might be the McArthur of Smilie & McArthur, but I just don’t think so.

There are several good strikes of this mark here, all of them an improvement over the ones I’ve documented previously.

I found another example like this, but one of the numerals was reversed.

2343 Dashwood Avenue

A. J. Warren did several of the homes here, and General Con. Co. did most of the rest. This mark differs from others I’ve recorded from 1939 in that it shows the full year without adding the month.

7621 Valentine Street

I have another mark by F. Verheyen from this year, but here he included the day as well as the month with his rakish backslash.

6619 Laird Avenue

This little dead-end street has a rare prize in this early Valenzuela mark.
