J. H. Colgrove took Deco to the limit, using a decorative font in which the “7” character was close to what other fonts would use for a “1.” But I have examples with a “1” in them, and that numeral is a straight unadorned stroke.

My very first Banchero mark was from 1937, but that date was pretty iffy. This is pretty sure.
2906 Delaware Street
Ed Doty switched from a straight-text mark to an arched-text mark some time in 1937. This example constrains the date to some time after February. I haven’t paid close attention to the months on arched-text marks, but now I guess I should.
