“4299” Detroit Avenue
A. Casqueiro started out with a nice 1928 stamp but didn’t update or replace it, and well into the 1930s he just scratched the real date next to the original bronze numbers. After a while he filed off the date and the address as well. By 1939 he’d gotten a more elaborate stamp that he used into the 1950s. Having learned his lesson, that one didn’t have a bronze date at all.
3742 Loma Vista Avenue
I’m only guessing at the initials, but I have the feeling I’ll be seeing more marks by Mr. Ruiz that will let me know them for sure.
5434 Wentworth Avenue
This spectacular double mark is not a new year for J. B. Lee, but I thought it was worth showing anyway.
2200 42nd Avenue
Another early year from Banchero, when his “Co.” was still a going concern. By 1936 he had chiseled off the “Co.”
4134 Redding Street
I have another example from this year, but that one used a different date format.
3653 Rhoda Avenue
C. L. Rogers was headquartered right down the street, but his marks are not at all common, even around here.
2816 Viola Street
F. E. Flaherty abandoned this racetrack-format mark in the mid-1930s. That is to say, the latest example I have is from 1934.
