5809 Fremont Street
A very nice W. O. Nelson mark. Fremont Street is a treasure, I should say, worth a visit if you’re walking in that part of town.

1223 34th Street
As I ease my way into West Oakland, it’s interesting to see different dates for familiar names. Up til now (or rather, elsewhere than here), I’ve only found W. M. Sharp marks from the 1930s. Sometimes I feel like a naturalist, spotting old species in new habitats.

3509 Grand Avenue
Grand Avenue is pretty sparsely populated with marks, like most of Oakland’s commercial streets. This is in front of an auto shop, the kind of place that doesn’t change hands or spruce up the sidewalk often.

440 24th Street

29 Buena Vista Place
This is a little street that overlooks route 24 from high on the north end of the ridge next to Lake Temescal. It’s my first mark from J. H. Green.
