Telegraph Avenue was largely paved by large, anonymous contractors, and old marks are scarce in North Oakland. This location is an empty lot today, and the mark will surely disappear when it’s developed.

Another concrete dynasty—I have a J. P. Fugel from 1916, a P. Fugel Sons from 1927, and this Fugel Bros. mark from 1920. It’s a little confusing.

5572 Lawton Avenue

I assume that this is either Nat Lena or someone from an earlier generation of the family. For now I will tag the two separately.

5528 Broadway

I deciphered the name of this maker from another mark. Roland C. Malone was located in Fruitvale instead of Oakland. There are lots more of these in Fruitvale sidewalks. There’s another one in even worse condition on Miles west of College.
