There are several of these on this block. The date appears beneath the mark, unlike my other example from this year.

409 Merritt Avenue

This is only the second dated mark I’ve found from Lindstrom’s earliest period. He adopted a racetrack mark in 1923 or 1924 and kept it into the 1950s.

972 42nd Street

J. Mottino marks with dates are as rare as hen’s teeth, but the day I found this I found a second one, giving me a total of three so far.

897 45th Street

4209 West Street

Marks from 1918 are pretty rare.

West Street is interesting. Like 40th Street, its sidewalks were trimmed back from the street when the roadway was widened, probably for the streetcar lines. As a result there are few sidewalk stamps left on it compared to the side streets.
