This stamp gives me a third year for the early version of The Oakland Paving Co. mark. It has the backward N’s, much more common than the correct N’s.

3111 Harper Street, Berkeley

1308 Alcatraz Avenue, Berkeley

Marks this old are of sufficient rarity that I document them all.

969 63rd Street

This is the fourth 1901 mark I’ve found from these guys, and the best preserved.

379 Orange Street

This is the third mark I have from this year by Peterson & Adler.

548 43d Street

I already have a 1901 mark from Peterson & Adler, but here’s another one. This is right at the edge of the strip of homes that was wiped out for the Grove-Shafter Freeway back in the early 1970s.

341 49th Street

Here the “1901” date was made by filling in the last zero in a “1900” stencil. Another example is the 1932 mark.
