    Yesterday I found another of these, in very poor shape, at the north end of Racine Street. It was also from 1912.

    “Argentic” means “containing silver”, but I doubt that they actually put silver or silver ore in their concrete. Perhaps it was just a way of expressing the idea of high quality.
