Apgar Street is a small, discontinuous street between 39th Street and MacArthur Boulevard. When I survey it, I will have my eyes peeled for more of this maker’s marks. I would like to think that the street was named for Virginia Apgar, inventor of the Apgar scoring system for newborns in 1953, but in fact the eponymous Apgar was the landowner Richard “R.M.” Apgar.
